Let's Talk Revival 🔥🔥🔥
Revival is a word that's been being used a lot in the Christian community. I've heard things like "we are in the last revival" and "God of revival come and heal our land." And when people speak of revival, at least the people I know, they refer to Joel 2. I decided to do a little digging on what revival is and I found a few definitions I'm going to share with you below:
"Extraordinary season of religious interest." Robert Baird
"The sovereign act of God, in which He restores His own backsliding people to repentance, faith and obedience." Stephen Olford
"Times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord." (Acts 3:19) J. Edwin Orr
"The awakening or quickening of God's people to their true nature and purpose." Robert Coleman
"The return of the Church from her backslidings, and the conversion of sinners." Charles Finney
"An extraordinary movement of the Holy Spirit producing extraordinary results." Richard Owen Roberts
"A community saturated with God" Duncan Campbell
"The work of the Holy Spirit in restoring the people of God to a more vital spiritual life, witness, and work by prayer and the Word after repentance in crisis for their spiritual decline." Earle Cairns
Personally, I really like this last definition. It hits home, right to the core of my being. Back in February I felt the Holy Spirit commissioning me to a 40-day fast. I didn't know really what that looked like or entailed, so I sought out some of my predecessors in the faith and found that there was a big thing going on amongst believers and a lot of the churches that I follow. They happened to be embarking on a corporate 40-day fast, so I joined one ministry. For 40 days I faithfully prayed a very specific prayer that I really didn't realize was all about revival. One by one many of the things that I prayed have began to occur. When I do something in God's Kingdom and it works I feel very compelled to share it with anyone who has an ear to hear and wants to see change in their life. So very simply I'm going to share this prayer with you and I hope that you align with it.
Me and my husband are getting ready to embark on a journey that we never imagined in a gazillion years would be something we got to say we did. We have been commissioned by God to pray for the state of California. We didn't know really what that entailed and through a series of dreams and visions and prophetic words and passages dropped in our spirit by the Holy Spirit, we came to realize what this entailed and what the 40-day fast was all about. [We will be launching the prayer walk for the state of California from Los Angeles on September 10th!] Crazy thing is is that as soon as we came out with it and spoke it out of our mouths and shared it with the handful of people we did, revival prayers started being prayed over us. God's doing something really really big! I can see it in the realm. He is stirring up believers to speak His truth and prophesy His truth, so that many will come to know Him and those that have put Him on a shelf or in a box, will take him off that shelf, out of that box, and make Him Lord of their life!
Join me in this prayer:
Father, release the spirit of the fear of God into our hearts. Strike our hearts with revelation of Your majesty, that we might live in awe before You. Release Your presence with holy dread that causes our spirit to tremble before Your glorious majesty. Unite our hearts to Your heart and Word and cause us to delight in the fear of God. Strengthen our inner person with endurance, that we may do Your will with zeal and diligence and not quit pursuing the deep things of Your heart. Impart endurance to us for prayer and fasting. Direct our hearts into the patience and endurance in which Jesus walked. Give us strength to follow through in our commitments to You and to fulfill our ministry calling when it is difficult. Pour out Your love into our inner person by the Holy Spirit, that our hearts may overflow in love back to You and to others. We also ask that You impart Your love for Jesus into our hearts. We ask for grace to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Allow us to comprehend Jesus's love for us and to abide in it and to stay connected to it. Let us see ourselves through Your eyes and love who You are and created us to be. Let us see the Light of Your glory. Give us Holy Spirit encounters - dreams, visions, angelic visitations, manifestations of your light, fire and wind - as you gave to Moses, Isaiah, Ezekiel and the disciples on the day of Pentecost and John on the island of Patmos. We commit to live as a people of one thing. Help us to regularly sit at Your feet, as Mary of Bethany did. Strengthen us to desire and maintain a lifestyle that has regular times before You in Your Word. When we lose focus, send Your Word to deliver us, as You did for the saints in the early church. Strengthen our inner person to walk in faith and obedience that is worthy to escape all compromise and to prepare us for the highest things that You have called us to. Help us to live free of compromise, that we would walk blamelessly in body, soul and spirit and be able to stand before You victorious, IN FULL OBEDIENCE. Set a guard over our lips and help us to speak only words that are pleasing to You. Free us from defensive, angry and foolish speech. Keep us from quenching the Spirit with our words. We set our hearts not to sin with our speech, that we could sustain unbroken communion with You. Jesus teach us how to walk in Your yoke of humility and loneliness. We set our heart to learn loneliness of heart from You, that will transform our attitudes, speech and actions. Give us wisdom on how to carry our heart in humility. Give us insight into Your Word, will and ways. Give us wisdom about how to walk in intimacy with You, in EVERY area of our life- including our finances, schedules, emotions, circumstances, physical body, relationships, our future, our fears and everything else that could stir up worry and anxiety. Let us know the secrets of Your heart, showing us what You think about our cities, states, nations and this generation before us. Father God in heaven, our God of the Angel Armies, strengthen our heart with supernatural peace in areas where we feel rejection, fear and anxiety. Strengthen our minds, that we may overcome all turmoil, confusion and indecision. Lord, may we never lose fellowship with you. In Jesus's Mighty Name, we say SO BE IT and AMEN!
"That is why the Lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish. Who knows? Perhaps he will give you a reprieve, sending you a blessing instead of this curse. Perhaps you will be able to offer grain and wine to the Lord your God as before. Blow the ram’s horn in Jerusalem! Announce a time of fasting; call the people together for a solemn meeting. Gather all the people— the elders, the children, and even the babies. Call the bridegroom from his quarters and the bride from her private room. Let the priests, who minister in the Lord’s presence, stand and weep between the entry room to the Temple and the altar. Let them pray, “Spare your people, Lord! Don’t let your special possession become an object of mockery. Don’t let them become a joke for unbelieving foreigners who say, ‘Has the God of Israel left them?’” Then the Lord will pity his people and jealously guard the honor of his land. The Lord will reply, “Look! I am sending you grain and new wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy your needs. You will no longer be an object of mockery among the surrounding nations. I will drive away these armies from the north. I will send them into the parched wastelands. Those in the front will be driven into the Dead Sea, and those at the rear into the Mediterranean. The stench of their rotting bodies will rise over the land.” Surely the Lord has done great things! Don’t be afraid, O land. Be glad now and rejoice, for the Lord has done great things. Don’t be afraid, you animals of the field, for the wilderness pastures will soon be green. The trees will again be filled with fruit; fig trees and grapevines will be loaded down once more. Rejoice, you people of Jerusalem! Rejoice in the Lord your God! For the rain he sends demonstrates his faithfulness. Once more the autumn rains will come, as well as the rains of spring. The threshing floors will again be piled high with grain, and the presses will overflow with new wine and olive oil. The Lord says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you. Once again you will have all the food you want, and you will praise the Lord your God, who does these miracles for you. Never again will my people be disgraced. Then you will know that I am among my people Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and there is no other. Never again will my people be disgraced. “Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on servants—men and women alike. And I will cause wonders in the heavens and on the earth— blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and terrible day of the Lord arrives. But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, for some on Mount Zion in Jerusalem will escape, just as the Lord has said. These will be among the survivors whom the Lord has called." --- Joel 2:12-32 NLT
