The Holy Spirit has been stirring my spirit regarding humility. The last couples of weeks have been a true test in this subject and have brought me to my knees, pouring out my heart with regards to pride and sin. As I began writing this prayer, which was intended to be shared at our churches corporate prayer night tonight, I realized this was the exact blog I’ve been talking about writing, but didn’t have the courage to sit and write. My hope is that we can all have a heart posture of humility to be more like Jesus and less like us. My desire is to draw closer to the Lord everyday that I have here on earth and my hope is the same for you. May this prayer be one that you all choose to join with me in today and may it enlighten you more to who God is and who He calls us to be.
God of Angel Armies, we come boldly to Your throne room, which is the seat of all power and dominion. It’s the place where You rule over all principalities and powers and where You reign over the affairs of all persons. Here in Your throne room, You monitor every move of Satan and examine every thought of man. A surely as Christ was raised from the dead, we’ve been raised up with Him by the Father. As surely as Jesus was taken to the throne of glory, we’ve been taken with Him to the same glorious place. Because we are in Him, we are also where He is. That’s the privilege of all believers. It means we are seated with Him in the same heavenly place where He dwells. We know and believe that all the riches of Christ are available to us: steadfastness, strength, rest, ever-increasing peace. We say “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
We submit to You now God. We resist the devil and we command you, devil, to flee from us. We draw near to You God, knowing and believing You will draw near to us. You are in us and You are greater than Satan, who is in the world. You, O God, are for us. Your living Word says “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). God, You are GREATER than the tempter. We submit to You, as You are able to deliver us from the evil one who seeks our allegiance through temptation. As we realize Your presence O God, we realize You are the One and only sovereign remedy against temptation. As we submit ourselves to You O God, we repent and confess our humanness to You. We seek You and Your ways to be the remedy to our spiritual maladies. We repent of our offenses to You and others and for being offended by Your truth and the truth that is spoken to us by believers. We repent of our unforgiveness we possess toward ourselves and others. We confess to You, O God, our bitterness and resentment that cause us to be divided from one another and You and Your truth. We confess that we often submit to our flesh, opening the door to strongholds in our lives that give Your adversary, the devil, permission to assault and attack us, therefore attacking You. We repent of our choice to choose ourselves, our wants, our desires that appeal to our flesh and the enemy, instead of You O God. We repent of our lack of unwillingness to surrender all that which is Yours and Yours alone. Forgive us Jesus for continuously crucifying You over and over again. We say “Breath of God, from the four winds, blow and breathe life again to our dry bones.” Revive our hearts Lord and stir up a longing in our hearts to want to be more like You and less like us.
The Word of God says: We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power in me be of God and not us. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh! For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. We declare obedience in the heart of all persons today in the Mighty Name of Jesus. We come against the spirit of division that assaults and attacks the church, therefore attacking Your body Jesus. We command division to flee in Jesus Name. We will be a church that is united in One Accord by the Spirit of the Living God. Holy Spirit, forgive us all for grieving You. Help us to be a people who humbles ourselves and prays.
Your Word O God says: If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. You say O God that Your eyes will be open and Your ears attentive to prayer made in this place! Grace us with Your ability and strength this very day to CHOOSE HUMILITY. Father, You are the Supreme Authority, a God of order. You have instituted other authority structures that will support healthy relationships and maintain harmony. It is our decision to surrender our will to You, that we might find protection and dwell in the secret place of the Most High. Father God in Heaven, thank You for the pastors and leaders of the church, those who are submitted to You and are examples to the congregation. We submit to the church elders, the ministers and spiritual guides of the church – giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel.
O Jesus, You know how rebellious we have been. We ask Your forgiveness for manipulating circumstances and people – for trying to manipulate You to get our own way. May Your will be done in our lives, even as it is in heaven.
Lord, when we feel that our lives are spiraling out of control, we bind our minds to the mind of Christ, and our emotions to the control of the Holy Spirit. We loose our mind from obsessive thought patterns that try to confuse us in Jesus name. Obedience is far better than sacrifice. You are much more interested in our listening to You than in our offerings of material things to You. Rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft and stubbornness is as bad as worshipping idols. Forgive us for practicing witchcraft and worshipping idols! You Lord deserve honesty from the heart; utter sincerity and truth. O Lord, give us this wisdom. Sprinkle us with the cleansing BLOOD and we shall be clean again. Wash us and we shall be whiter than snow. You have rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son You love, in Whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Lord, we desire and want to follow You. We are putting aside our own desires and conveniences. We yield our desires that are not in Your plan for us. Even in the midst of our fear, we surrender and entrust our future to You. We choose to take up our cross and follow You – cleaving steadfastly to You, conforming wholly to Your example in living and if need be, in dying also. We desire to lose our lower life on Your account that we might find it in the Higher life with You.
Father God, You gave us Jesus to be our Example. He has returned to You Father and has sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper and Guide. In this world there are temptations, trials, and tribulations, but Jesus, You have overcome the world and we are of good cheer.
We declare: Jesus is our Lord. We choose to become Your servant. You, Jesus, call us “friend.”
Holy Spirit, help us to walk through the process of surrendering our all to You. We exchange rebellion and stubbornness for a willing and obedient heart. When we refuse to listen, anoint our ears to hear; when we are blinded by our own desires, open our eyes to see and convict us to confess this to You and truly repent of those selfish ambitions, turning away from the wickedness of self-centeredness and surrendering all of our thoughts to You. Take all our thoughts captive. Consecrate our mind to Your mind and let us become magnificently obsessed with Your ways. We belong to Jesus Christ, the Anointed One, who breaks down and destroys every yoke of bondage. In Jesus Name and in obedience to Your will Father, we submit to the control and direction of the Holy Spirit, whom You have sent to live in us. For every problem in life, You O God have given us a promise. We can find hope by praying those promises. You are the anchor to a life of unshakeable faith and unshakeable hope.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God so that things which are seen were not made of Things which do appear.” It’s our belief that there is only one way to all the treasures and promises of God – IT IS BY FAITH. There is only one principle underlying all the attributes and all the beatitudes of the mighty ascension into the glories of Christ – IT IS BY FAITH! All Your promises are ‘Yes’ and ‘Amen’ to them who believe. And You, O God, want this very day, by it’s own way – For Ye have a way and it never comes human, it always comes on divine principles. We know You Lord by Your open door of grace. You have made a way. It is a beautiful way that all the saints, all of us, Your children, can enter in by that way and find rest. The way, O God, is THE WAY OF FAITH! There isn’t any other way. You Jesus are The Way, The Truth, and The Life and Your Word is Spirit and life-giving. We see all the plan of life where, You O God, come in and vindicate Your power, making Your presence felt by the Way of the Holy Spirit. It is not by crying or groaning. It is because we believe. As we labor in prayers and groans and travails because our tremendous sin is weighing us down, we become broken in the very presence of You Holy Spirit – BREAK US O FATHER – and when properly melted in the perfect harmony with the divine plan of God – BRING US INTO HARMONY WITH YOU O FATHER – then and only then will You begin to work in this clay! Let our prayers change our hearts.
God, You are the same today and forever, full of love, full of entreaty, full of helpfulness. Always in the presence of You Holy Spirit, as we come to You because only You have what we come for. You rescue the humble, but Your eyes watch the proud and humiliate them. You lead the humble in doing what is right, teaching them Your ways. The humble will see You, O God, at work and be glad. Let all who seek Your help be encouraged. Though You are great and mighty in power God, You care for the humble but You keep Your distance from the proud. Lord You delight in Your people and You crown the humble with victory. Fearing You O God teaches us wisdom and humility precedes honor. The humble will be filled with fresh joy from You Lord. The poor will rejoice in You, the Holy One of Israel. You live in the high and holy place with those spirits that are contrite and humble. You restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with a repentant heart. O God, You bless those who are humble, for they shall inherit the whole earth. Anyone who becomes as humble as a little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven!
The Lord is saying to us all, in this moment: Arise! Shine! “For thy light is come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon thee and His glory shall be seen upon thee.” (Isaiah 60:1-2). Shine bright, You are a chosen one. From this day forth, don’t let anybody cause you to dim your light. For Jesus says “You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret place to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand – SHINE!” (Matthew 5:14-16). The Lord is faithful and He will open us up to His wisdom, revelation, strategies and plans that He has stored up for you to see by the power of God manifested in each of His promises. He has opened up all of heaven to help us display His power and glory on the earth. We must arise! We were made for this moment – TO ARISE! STAND IN YOUR PLACE! It’s time for us to be who God called us to be. Our light has come! We must walk by the Spirit to hear what the Spirit is saying - ARE YOU LISTENING? – and to do what the Spirit is saying we should do. We must choose His way – humility. Arise and step into the marvelous light of our living God. Our life awaits!
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9).
